I’ve been chasing songs for a long time now — bars in Texas, oil towns in Alaska, clubs in Scotland, little back rooms in New York. Along the way I’ve played a lot of different kinds of music — country, rock, folk, and plenty in between. But the blues has always been the ground I come back to.
Over the years fans have kept asking me, “Son, when are you going to put out an all-blues record?” Well, here it is. All Blues 2000–2025 gathers together the songs that hit closest to the bone — the heartbreakers, the road songs, the rough-and-tumble stories that only the blues can carry.
These aren’t shiny, polished tales. They’re songs about loss, bad luck, painted-over storefronts, redhead trouble, long highways, and sometimes finding a little light in the dark. They come from places I’ve lived and people I’ve known, and I sing them because they’re true — not just for me, but for a lot of folks.
So this one’s for the blues fans who’ve been with me all along. It’s a collection from the last 25 years, but it feels like one story to me. If you find yourself in these songs, well, then we’re traveling the same road.
