The Revelators
Blues Blues Blues
The Revelators grew out of something real. For more than two decades, the Son House Blues Night has gathered musicians and fans on the last Thursday of every month at Record Archive, one of Rochester’s most iconic listening rooms. What began as a house band for that long-running tradition became something deeper. Guitarist Son Henry, drummer Rob Huff, bassist Dan Lopata, and keyboardist Jon Tucker found a shared language in the blues but the chemistry kept swinging into soul and funk. And that is their signature sound: Fu.ky Soul Blues.
Between them, the band carries over a century of professional experience on stages across the United States and Europe. Each member has backed national touring artists, led original projects, and built a reputation for musicianship that is both disciplined and fearless.
The Revelators do not approach the blues as a museum piece. Their sets are built on deep knowledge of the tradition, but the electricity comes from real-time conversation. Songs stretch, grooves evolve, and solos rise out of instinct and trust. You might get a hint of Leadbelly, you might get a dash of Santana, you might get a dab of Robert Johnson, you might get a few drops of Stevie Wonder. You might get something that is a mix of all four Nothing is phoned in. Nothing is safe in the best possible way.
For venues and festivals, The Revelators deliver a tight, professional show anchored in decades of experience. For blues audiences, they offer something rarer: tradition played with conviction, spontaneity, playfulness, and a deep respect for the blues.
